BEN’S FARM SHOP

HAVING PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED THE DAIRY INFRASTRUCTURE AT NEARBY RIVERFORD ORGANIC, WHEN THE TIME CAME TO KIT OUT THE WATSON FAMILY’S NEW FARM SHOP, OUR 45 YEARS OF EXPERTISE MADE FOR A GREAT FIT.

JUST A FIVE MINUTE DETOUR OFF THE SOUTHBOUND A38, DRIVING ALONGSIDE THE RIVER DART PAST ORCHARDS AND STEEP GREEN FIELDS IMMEDIATELY SETS THE SCENE FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL.

WITH LOCAL FOOD AND DRINK THE MAIN DRAW HERE, OUR FIRST JOB WAS TO ASSEMBLE THE OUTER WALL PANELS THAT WOULD HOUSE THE MAIN FRIDGES.

WE DID THIS IN AUTUMN 2025 USING KINGSPAN ‘KOOLTHERM K108’ - A PREMIUM PERFORMANCE PARTIAL-FILL CAVITY WALL INSULATION WITH QUADCORE TECHNOLOGY AND A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF 0.019 W/MK.

THIS SUMMER WE BUILT ALL THE FRIDGES AND FREEZERS AND NOW WE’RE INSTALLING EVERYTHING ELSE INCLUDING DISPLAY CABINETS, DELI COUNTER AND FRESH AIR HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM TO BRING THIS EXCITING NEW SHOP SPACE TO LIFE FOR A JAN 2027 OPENING.

FRESH AIR

A fresh air heat recovery (MVHR) system continuously supplies your building with clean, filtered fresh air while extracting stale, humid air from kitchens, toilets, offices and other occupied spaces.

At the heart of the system is a highly efficient heat exchanger, which transfers heat from the outgoing stale air to the incoming fresh air. This means you enjoy fresh, healthy air while significantly reducing the energy needed to heat your building.

Our systems also incorporate integrated air conditioning and heating, allowing the incoming fresh air to be cooled in summer and heated in winter. This provides year-round climate control, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature while ensuring a constant supply of fresh, filtered air.

These systems are ideal for offices, retail units, farm shops, commercial buildings, restaurants, schools and other workplaces, where fresh air, energy efficiency and climate control are essential.

“THE WATSON FAMILY HAVE BEEN FARMING IN THE DART VALLEY FOR OVER FORTY YEARS. WAY BACK IN 1983, BEN STARTED MAKING SAUSAGES FROM PIGS RAISED ON THE FARM to THEN SELL AT TOTNES MARKET. AND SO, THEIR ORIGINAL FARM SHOP WAS BORN.”
