BEN’S FARM SHOP

HAVING PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED THE DAIRY INFRASTRUCTURE AT NEARBY RIVERFORD ORGANIC, WHEN THE TIME CAME TO KIT OUT THE WATSON FAMILY’S NEW FARM SHOP, OUR 45 YEARS OF EXPERTISE MADE FOR A GREAT FIT.

JUST A FIVE MINUTE DETOUR OFF THE SOUTHBOUND A38, DRIVING ALONGSIDE THE RIVER DART PAST ORCHARDS AND STEEP GREEN FIELDS IMMEDIATELY SETS THE SCENE FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL.

WITH LOCAL FOOD AND DRINK THE MAIN DRAW HERE, OUR FIRST JOB WAS TO ASSEMBLE THE OUTER WALL PANELS THAT WOULD HOUSE THE MAIN FRIDGES.

WE DID THIS IN AUTUMN 2025 USING KINGSPAN ‘KOOLTHERM K108’ - A PREMIUM PERFORMANCE PARTIAL-FILL CAVITY WALL INSULATION WITH QUADCORE TECHNOLOGY AND A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF 0.019 W/MK.

THIS SUMMER WE’VE BEEN BUILDING ALL THE FRIDGES AND FREEZERS AND SOON WE’LL INSTALL EVERYTHING ELSE INCLUDING DISPLAY CABINETS, DELI COUNTER AND FRESH AIR HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM TO BRING THIS EXCITING NEW SHOP SPACE TO LIFE.

FRESH AIR

The Systemair Geniox indoor air handling unit works by pulling in fresh outdoor air and stale indoor air through filtering, conditioning, and exchanging heat between them through a modular system. It operates via energy-efficient fans and integrated recovery components to supply balanced ventilation and stable indoor temperatures.

Airflow Management_
Uses dual plug fans to pull in outdoor supply air and extract indoor return air simultaneously.


Filtration_
Passes incoming and outgoing air through specialised filters to trap dust and particles.


Heat Recovery_
Transfers thermal energy from the exhaust air to the fresh supply air using a rotary, counterflow, crossflow, or run-around coil heat exchanger.


Temperature Conditioning_
Adjusts air temperature via built-in water/electric heating coils, cooling coils, or an integrated reversible heat pump.


Intelligent Control_
Regulates fan speeds, temperatures and airflow volumes automatically via plug-and-play control systems with wireless capabilities.
